I asked a while back for yall to send in your stories about how you started running, struggles, etc. I filed them away under “Super Mom Sunday” in my email and didn’t read them. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I wanted it to be like unwrapping a present when I posted my Super Mom Sundays. It’s so neat to get to learn a little more about our followers and chapter leaders!!
Today I unwrapped Amanda’s story. Short and sweet – ok, maybe “sweet” isn’t the word you use to describe a 32 year old who had a stroke!! Yes, you read that right!
Anyway, take a minute to meet Amanda and be sure to follow her on twitter @AmandaL76 and read her blog- Runnin’ My Tail Off!! I LOVE her blog…. I really wish I could some how get blogs on audio so I could listen to them while I’m doing other stuff. Love all her race recaps both real and virtual, day to day running posts, links to giveaways, virtuals, and just all the other ramblings :)
Here’s Amanda’s Story:
My name is Amanda, I am a thirty something mom to three kids & a bulldog, and wife to my favorite person in the whole world. In my world there is Big E aka Emerson (my husband), Son #1(Evan), Son #2(Erik) and the girl (Alison.) Oh and Layla the bulldog♥ I just recently went back to school to become a Registered Nurse…someday I’ll get there :)
When I turned 30 I felt that I was getting “fluffy” so my brother bought me a treadmill for my birthday. I started the Couch to 5k program and didn’t finish. I restarted it again at 31, then 3 weeks before I turned 32 I had a stroke and my world changed. I was not an unhealthy person and not over weight, it shouldn’t have happened to me. I have no lasting effects. I’ve had a opening (PFO) in my heart repaired and seem to be in the best shape of my life. I got serious about fitness & my health once I was cleared.
I’m not a fast runner, probably never will be, I still go and put forth the effort. I have a total love/hate relationship with running. Some days I dread going, others I’m so excited I cant stand it! I never regret going though.
I love to read blogs, especially blogs about newish, slower runners and people making that change to better their health and lives…
I tend to ramble and talk about nothing or in complete circles, don’t be scared, its just how I am. It drives my husband insane. (maybe there is a method to my madness)
Follow me, I wont bite, although I do sometimes forget to blog. I’d love to know I’m not alone in this bloggy world.
If you would like to submit your story to Super Mom Sunday -just email us the story and some pics, or link to your bio on your blog! Send to: firstname.lastname@example.org. We love sharing stories about our running moms of all shapes, sizes, stories, struggles and victories ;)
